Scent Work - Level 1 - Introduction to Odor (Age: 6 months and over)

This introductory level scent work class is for dogs that don't have any prior scent work experience. You will learn the basic concepts related to searching for odor, proper use of equipment, how to handle odor, how to place hides, and how to teach your dog to hunt for odor and love it. We recommend completion of Level 2 obedience (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. Class size is limited to 6 dogs.

A virtual option is available for this class.  The virtual option allows you to learn and train with your dog without attending a live in person class.  If you select this option, you will receive written documentation and video lectures each week.  The video lectures are pre-recorded, so you can watch them on your schedule, anytime during the week. You can submit videos of your homework assignments and written questions about the class material.  You will receive feedback on both your video assignments and written questions. Please select the "Virtual" option for the Class Location when registering for the class.  To participate in the virtual option you need to be able to send and receive email, watch videos via YouTube, record videos, and submit videos for review.

* Multi-session classes are held once a week for one hour.

Scent Work - Level 2 - Introduction to Search Types (Age: 6 months and over)

This class is for dogs that are familiar with searching for odor and ready to build on those skills. This class will develop and expand on your dog's hunting and searching skills and apply them to Interiors, Exteriors, Buried Hides, and Containers. We recommend completion of Level 1 - Introduction to Odor (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. Class size is limited to 6 dogs.

This class is for dogs that are already comfortable with the different types of searches. This class will focus on advanced skills such as thresholds, corners, height challenges, distractions, multiple hides, and inaccessible hides. We recommend completion of Level 2 - Introduction to Search Types (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. Class size is limited to 6 dogs.

This class is for dogs that are already comfortable with the different types of searches and have been introduced to advanced searching and sniffing concepts. This class will build on the previously introduced advanced skills such as thresholds, corners, height challenges, distractions, multiple hides, and inaccessible hides. It will also introduce concepts such as blank areas and an unknown number of hides. We recommend completion of Level 3 - Advanced Sniffing Skills (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. Class size is limited to 6 dogs.
