Water Sports - Learn to Dog Paddle (Age: 6 months and over)

Do you want to teach your dog to swim and enjoy the water? Not sure how to get started? This class covers the basics of teaching your dog how to dog paddle in a safe and fun environment. Not all dogs are ready to take the plunge and swim after a single session, but you will learn how to gradually increase your dog's confidence, passion for the water, and desire to swim.

Each 1-hour session is reserved for just you and your dog.  Group classes and custom options are available by request.

Water Sports - Level 1 (Age: 6 months and over)

Does your dog already know how to swim and love the water? This class introduces you and your dog to various water sports skills and challenges. Behaviors introduced include: swimming with a human, basic retrieve and delivery tasks, underwater retrieves, directional commands, and platform jumping. This class is a great way to exercise and have fun with your dog and a good opportunity to prepare for the annual Canine Water Sports trial. If your dog is training for the Portuguese Water Dog or Newfoundland water trials, let us know, and we can customize the exercises to mimic the breed specific water work tests. Class size is limited to 6 dogs.

Water Sports - Level 2 (Age: 6 months and over)

Has your dog mastered the Water Sports - Level 1 behaviors and is now ready for new challenges? This class builds on the behaviors learned in Level 1. Skills covered include: multiple article retrieves, delivery between multiple people and/or objects, delivery to a zone, advanced directional commands, and jumping from a boat. This class is a great way to exercise and have fun with your dog and a good opportunity to prepare for the annual Canine Water Sports trial. If your dog is training for the Portuguese Water Dog or Newfoundland water trials, let us know, and we can customize the exercises to mimic the breed specific water work tests. Water Sports - Open Practice (Age: 6 months and over)

Open practice provides you the opportunity to work on the water skills of your choosing: swim confidence, retrieves, delivery, platform work, boat work, and/or directional commands.  We will bring the equipment and be available to offer guidance, but no formal curriculum will be taught. This is a great way to exercise and have fun with your dog and prepare for the annual Canine Water Sports trial. We recommend completion of Level 1 obedience (or equivalent) prior to attending practice. Practice is scheduled for 2 hours, drop in for a portion of the practice or stay the entire time. Attend all the practices or the ones of your choosing.  Cost is $15 per session or $75 for the season. Advance registration is required.

Water Sports - Water Trial (Age: 6 months and over)

Enter the annual Canine Water Sports trial to show off your dog's water sports skills. The trial takes place at Fiesta Island and is tons of fun for both the humans and the dogs.

Water Sports - Stand Up Paddleboard With Your Dog (Age: 6 months and over)

Do you and your dog love the water?  Looking for a unique way to spend time with your dog? Bring your 4-legged friend along for a stand up paddleboard adventure on Mission Bay. Don't be intimidated, stand up paddleboard is incredibly fun for anyone who likes the water. We will introduce you and your dog to the paddleboard on land and then proceed with balance training in the shallows. After a brief paddling lesson, we are off to explore Mission Bay.

Each 1-hour session is reserved for just you and your dog.  Group classes and custom options are available by request.

We provide the paddleboard, paddle, and life vests (human and canine); no previous stand up paddleboard experience is required.
