Water Sports

For people and dogs who love to work and play in the water.

Cabrillo, the PWD, Learns to RetrieveWater Sports - Level 1Bono, the Lab, Learns to Surf

Canine Water Sports allow you to enrich your dog's life with challenges such as: swimming, surfing waves, stand up paddleboarding, diving for lost gear, retrieving toys and equipment, or rescuing a stranded boater.

Swimming is a great conditioning activity for your adventure loving dog, resulting in far less joint wear and tear than other sports.  Surfing and stand up paddleboarding improve your dogs balance and strength.  All of these activities offer sensory stimulation for the mind and an aerobic workout for the body.  All dogs can benefit from building swim confidence, focus, and purpose in a safe, buoyant, and beautifully organic environment.

Water sports training programs help you build a relationship with your dog based on trust, respect and cooperation.  The teamwork stimulates a positive and  healthy human-to-dog relationship.  It also provides you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of San Diego, socialize with other water dog enthusiasts, set achievement goals, and even earn recognition awards.

All levels of dogs are welcome: from the canine athlete to the family pet, from those that have never set all four paws in the water to those that think they are a fish.  For more information on the Canine Water Sports program and philosophies, check out: www.caninewatersports.com.
